Whether you’re a type-a person, type-b, or somewhere in between, list-making is a powerful tool to take control on your life!

These lists aren’t just about staying organized (though they’ll definitely help with that), they’re also about helping you feel motivated, focused, and capable of handling whatever the month throws your way. Lists To Make Each Month For An Organized and Productive Life

Organization & Life Management Lists

Monthly Family Calendar

Write down all upcoming events for that month. Things like school functions, family outings, appointments, holidays, and travel. It’s your go-to overview of the month. Even if you have these things on your calendar, it’s helpful to actual sit down and list them out as a reminder, and to mentally prepare for the month ahead.

Meal Plan Master List

Plan out dinners (and lunches if needed) to save decision fatigue, avoid last-minute takeout, and stick to your grocery budget. Not having to scramble to put a dinner idea together each day will save you a lot of sanity! If you don’t want to get as specific as daily, then just plan it out week by week. Just list 7 meals for each week of the month. When that week comes, you have your list of meals, and the only thing you have to decide is what day to have each meal idea.

For example: Week One: Chicken Cesar Wraps, Tacos, Tater Tot Casserole, Grilled Chicken Sandwiches, Spaghetti Bake, French Dip Subs, Garlic Butter Pork Chop Bites.

Grocery & Pantry Restock List

Take inventory of what’s running low and what needs restocking in your pantry, refrigerator and freezer.

Home To-Do List

List projects like decluttering, home repairs, or seasonal cleaning tasks so nothing slips through the cracks. This can help avoid having a long list of household “to-dos” then go months (or years) without actually getting done.

Budget & Bills Checklist

Track upcoming bills, subscriptions, and irregular expenses (like birthday gifts or school fees) to keep your budget on point.

Important Errands & Phone Calls

Those nagging little tasks you keep forgetting, like returning library books, calling your insurance company, making a vet appointment, etc. Put them all here! – From this list, you could also then add them to your planner to schedule out when they will get done.

Kids’ School & Activity Checklist

Field trips, forms, spirit days, after-school activities, book fairs, you’ll thank yourself for listing it all in one place!

Birthday & Gift List

Stay ahead of birthdays, parties, and any upcoming holidays with a list of who to shop for and by when.

People to Reach Out To

Friends, family, or even professional contacts. Jot down who you want to reconnect with or check in on this month. Life gets so busy sometimes days, weeks, and even months pass by without checking in on our loved ones, or nurturing a professional networking connection. This list will help ensure those relationships stay healthy and happy.

Goal-Oriented & Personal Growth Lists

Monthly Goals List

Choose 3–5 goals for the month. These can be personal, family-related, financial, health-based, or even fun goals. Chose whichever goals feel the most meaningful to you at this time.

Learning Goals List

What do you want to learn or improve this month? It could be a parenting skill, a new recipe, a hobby, or even diving into a book on self-development. This is a great way to grow as a person and expand your knowledge. This is a great list for children to make as well! It could even be learning about random topics that you’re interested in, but never make time to learn about. Like a type of animal, a career type, something in history, science, etc. The possibilities are endless! If you’d prefer, just include a learning goal in your month goals list.

Habit Tracker List

List habits you want to build or maintain this month. Things like walking daily, limiting phone time, or waking up earlier. Track your progress each day to stay motivated.

Affirmations List

Write down 3–5 encouraging affirmations you can repeat daily to shift your mindset and keep your confidence high. Or just pick one, that will be your mantra for the month.

Self-Care Plan List

Schedule in ways you’ll take care of yourself this month. Simple things like reading for fun, scheduling a haircut, or even just drinking water consistently. Something that will benefit your body, mind, and/or sanity!

Declutter & Simplify List

Pick 1–3 areas to declutter this month. Think toy bins, your email inbox, your closet, junk drawer, car, or your photo roll.

Wins from Last Month List

Celebrate your progress! Write down small (or big) wins from the previous month to boost your confidence and remind yourself of what you’re capable of.

Planning & Productivity Lists

Top Priorities List

Narrow your focus to your top 3–5 priorities this month so you don’t get lost in the busywork. These are the things that you NEED to get done, no wiggle room.

Daily Rhythm or Routine Reset

Outline your ideal daily flow. Whether school schedules are shifting or you’re entering a new season of life, this list will help you stay grounded.

Kids’ Chore & Responsibility List

Refresh your kids’ chore expectations or responsibilities for the month. It’s a great time to assign new tasks or reinforce old ones.

If you really want to implement a responsibility/chore routine with your young kids, check out this Bear Bucks Rewards System. It’s a really fun way for kids to earn adorable “Bear Bucks” which can be spent in the Bear Bucks Shop, which can be totally customized by the parents. Offer monetary or non-monetary rewards, or combination of both. It’s a more effective twist on the traditional chore chart for kids.

Upcoming Purchases List

Track items you’re planning (or needing) to buy. From seasonal clothing to household goods to birthday gifts, so you can budget intentionally.

Books or Podcasts to Read/Listen To

Jot down a few titles that will help you grow, escape, or recharge throughout the month. Audiobooks have been a real game change for my busy mom-life. (Sign-up here for a Free-Trial Audible Membership. You get access to a huge library of audiobooks and podcasts, and you get credits every month to get audiobooks.)

One Big Thing List

What’s one bigger project or dream you want to focus on this month? Breaking it down into actionable steps helps you build momentum.

Rainy Day / Plan B Activities List

A list of low-effort activities you can pull out when plans fall through, energy is low, or the weather ruins your day.

Those Are Lists To Make Each Month For An Organized Life.

Remember, you don’t have to fill out all 23 lists every single month, but even choosing 5–10 can help you feel more in control, more productive, and more inspired each month. Starting each month with a more positive and organized mindset can make HUGE differences in your life. Both short term and long term.

Imagine the feeling at the end of the year if you do this every month. Organize your life, increase productivity, and shift your mindset…one list at a time.

Lists To Make Each Month – And How To Do it!

Your lists won’t do you any good if you’re just jotting them down on scrap paper and losing them each month. But you also don’t need anything fancy. A simple notebook, and tabs work perfectly! Just use the tabs to label/separate by month, so you can open the notebook to your current month easily. Or check out some of the beautiful notebook options below that include something to mark your page.
